Outrank Content Boundary Rules (v2 — multi-channel platform)

Overview

Adwave uses two content publishing streams that must not overlap:

  1. Adwave Editorial (this repo) — paid advertising content published through Contentful
  2. Outrank — daily organic/owned-channel SMB marketing content published via the Outrank platform (lands at adwave.com/resources/... alongside Adwave editorial; distinguished by no author field)

The Boundary Rule

Paid advertising = Adwave editorial. Organic/owned channels = Outrank.

This is the v2 rule, reflecting Adwave's shift from CTV-only to a multi-channel ad platform (TV + Google + YouTube + Meta + Reddit + display). If Adwave runs ads on a channel, content about that channel belongs on Adwave.

The original v1 rule ("TV/CTV = Adwave, everything else = Outrank") is superseded but still visible in the original calendar/outrank-180-day-topics.csv plan structure. Use calendar/v2/outrank-topics.md as the canonical topic list.

Adwave Editorial Owns These Topics

Outrank Owns These Topics (DO NOT create for Adwave editorial)

Organic and owned channels only. Do NOT create Adwave editorial content in these spaces:

When in Doubt

  1. Check keywords/already-targeted.md — the Outrank section lists reserved topics and known off-plan posts
  2. Check calendar/v2/outrank-topics.md for the canonical Outrank plan + status
  3. If the topic is primarily about a non-paid marketing channel (organic SEO, email, organic social, content marketing), it belongs to Outrank
  4. If the topic involves a paid advertising channel Adwave delivers ads on, it belongs to Adwave editorial

Tracking

As Outrank publishes pieces, the keyword tracker (keywords/already-targeted.md) is the canonical record. The Outrank section there tracks reserved clusters AND any off-plan posts that land in Adwave's lane.
